“PUKAR” is a cry for life, life that never ends, but can be started fresh from anywhere anytime. Ronnie (Amitabh Bachchan) got a wrong start in life. He was born the son of a freedom fighter, but the very death of his father led him to hate the revolutionaries, and Purandhare (Dr. Shreeram Lagoo), the symbol of revolution to free Goa, became the center of Ronnie’s hatred. Ronnie, being the boss of a terrifying gang, the “Saiba” of his village, was a man of power and Influence. But he misused this and had Purandhare killed by the Portugese; Shekhar (Randhir Kapoor) took Purandhare’s place. Soon Shekhar became a name to reckon with and Monteiro (Prem Chopra) made it his mission to arrest Shekhar. In his noble cause Shekhar was helped by Ronnie’s beloved Julie (Zeenat Aman) on the one hand and Usha (Tina Munim) on the other. It was Julie who gave shelter to Shekhar in Ronnie’s house when Monteiro was looking for him, and it was Usha who with her selfless love gave him courage to carry on his fight while she looked after his parents. In one such mission of his, Shekhar killed the Portugese Governor. Ronnie caught him and handed him over to the police to be hanged! Now, the entire village, the entire city, the country was against Ronnie for having got Shekhar arrested!! One by one, all, even Julie, left Ronnie.

Alone, Ronnie realized the folly of his ways. But was it too late…? Would he be able to right the wrong which he has done…?

Will he be able to rescue Shekhar from the gallows…?
